Home Visit Protocol COVID-19 Update (November 2021)

Thank you to those people who joined us on the 14th October 2021 for our zoom session on how MRO are operating, now that restrictions are starting to ease across NSW and into regional areas.

As you would appreciate, operating a community based practice (across the Victorian/NSW and NSW/QLD and NSW/ACT borders) has been challenging during the pandemic! But over the past 18 months we have developed many protocols to ensure that our clients, their families and our staff remain safe and we minimise the spread of the virus to our best capacity.

To summarise our current approach:

  • All of MRO staff are fully vaccinated (including our admin team).
  • Full safety screening (at time of referral and 24 hours before every face to face visit) is conducted.
  • This includes checking client and household’s health status, vaccination status, exposure to COVID-19 hot spots and reviewing number of cases in the referral area.
  • Minimising time in the home (using telehealth for other information gathering).
  • Minimising number of people at the assessment (client plus one support person).
  • Conducting assessment outdoors / in a well ventilated area if possible.
  • Carrying out some interventions via telehealth as appropriate.
  • We have developed some excellent programs on line (MRO Activate and MRO Stepping Stones) and have become more confident with telehealth assessments and interventions.

We are constantly reviewing our home visit safety plans, in line with NSW health and will update you accordingly.
